Mega Lighting
Privacy policy
Last updated 2 November 2026
Mega Lighting sells lighting in Addis Ababa and across Ethiopia. This policy explains what information we handle on megalightinget.com and in the tool we use to publish to our own TikTok, Instagram and Facebook accounts, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Mega Lighting, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. You can reach us at megalightinet@gmail.com, 090 742 3537 or 095 536 3738.
When you visit our website
We count visits so we know which parts of the site are useful. For each visit we record:
- a random visitor number kept in your browser's storage, and a random number for the current visit;
- the type of device (phone, tablet or computer), the operating system and the browser;
- where the visit came from, such as a social media link, a search engine or a QR code;
- the pages you open and the main buttons you tap, such as a store button or a contact link.
These numbers can't tell us who you are. We don't use them to identify you, and we don't record your name. To stop abuse, our server briefly uses a scrambled form of your internet address that changes every day; it is not stored with the visit records.
We also use Google Analytics, which collects similar information and sets its own cookies. Google handles that information under Google's privacy policy. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or your browser's privacy settings. The website still works if you block storage or cookies.
When you contact us
If you call, email or message us on Telegram, Instagram or TikTok, we use what you send us, such as your name, phone number and order details, to answer you and arrange your order or delivery. We don't use it for anything else.
Our social media publishing tool
We use a private tool, at megalightinget.com/studio, to schedule and publish our own photos and videos to the Mega Lighting accounts on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Only Mega Lighting staff can sign in to it, and it only connects to accounts that belong to Mega Lighting.
When we connect one of our accounts, the platform gives the tool:
- a sign-in key (access token) that lets the tool post on our behalf;
- basic account details: display name, username and profile picture;
- for TikTok, the account's posting settings, such as the privacy choices it allows and the longest video it can post;
- numbers about our own account and posts: followers, views, likes, comments, shares and saves.
We use this only to publish our own content at the times we choose and to see how our posts perform. We don't read, collect or store information about other TikTok, Instagram or Facebook users. Sign-in keys are stored encrypted on our server. The photos and videos we upload are our own, and they stay on our server until we delete them.
We can disconnect an account at any time in the tool's settings, which deletes its sign-in keys. Access can also be removed from the platform itself: in TikTok under Settings and privacy, and in Facebook and Instagram under apps and websites. Content posted through the tool is then governed by each platform's own terms and privacy policy.
Who we share information with
We don't sell information to anyone. We only share it with services that help us run the website and our accounts:
- our web hosting company, which stores the website and its data;
- Google, for the website statistics described above;
- TikTok, Instagram (Meta) and Facebook (Meta), when we publish our own posts to them.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep website statistics for as long as they help us understand how the site is used. We keep messages and order details for as long as we need them to serve you and keep our business records. Sign-in keys for our social media accounts are kept until we disconnect the account.
Your choices
- You can block or clear browser storage and cookies; the website still works.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to megalightinet@gmail.com.
Children
Our website and services are not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
